Appalachia Basin

The Appalachian Basin region extends from Alabama to Maine and encompasses the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Marcellus and Utica have become the dominant gas-producing plays in North America, with production growth of over 15 Bcf/d in the past five years. Production break-even economics are among the most competitive in North America, and costs have continued to decline as drilling techniques and technology have improved well productivity.

Insufficient gas infrastructure (i.e., gathering lines, processing, transmission pipelines) has constrained production growth in the region over the past four years, and step changes in production have become a function of new takeaway pipeline capacity to downstream consuming markets.
