US Well Data

The IHS Markit Well Database is the largest, most comprehensive US well database, accounting for virtually every well drilled and produced back to 1859

Are you accessing the most thorough US well data you need to stay ahead of the competition?

We provide close to 1,000 data elements and narratives on more than 4.5 million well records, accounting for virtually every well drilled and produced since 1859. US Well Data is sourced from regulatory agencies and sometimes directly from operators prior to state filings and including figures that some states never obtain enabling you to:

  • Access the most thorough set of records on US wells, including virtually every well drilled since 1859
  • Obtain exceptionally current well data as our field staff collects and disseminates the data before state reports are filed
  • Evaluate E&P opportunities using data that is validated, standardized, and integrated into our analytical software applications

"On probably 90-95 percent of projects requiring publicly available data, I recommend that clients use IHS Markit data. It's my first preference for well and production data."

Jewel Wellborn, President

Case Study

IHS Markit Sources over 90% of Consulting Firm's Project Data

Denver-based Hydrocarbon Exploration & Development, an E&P consulting firm, needed comprehensive, current oil and gas operator data and other information to interpret and evaluate customer properties. They also needed to rapidly export and import that data among proprietary and customer databases.

We provided standardized data that was easy to import and export across a broad range of applications.

The customer could directly download data into its interpretation software and see the regional and local context for conventional and coalbed methane properties. The firm continues to choose IHS Markit data for the majority of its customers' projects.
