Reza Eftekhari

Reza is an expert in special situations and leads our activism practice in Europe as well as advises clients on their shareholder sensitivities, whether it be in relation to deal support, ESG and corporate governance sensitivities, ESG activism or general meeting preparation.He previously worked at Morrow Sodali as a Director and was responsible for the UK market. He has held key managerial positions within shareholder advisory and consultancy businesses in London including 6 years at Georgeson and 4 years at D.F. King. Since 2007, he has contributed to the success of a large number of high-profile UK and cross-border M&A transactions that were implemented via scheme of arrangement or public tender offers. These deals include the takeover of Liverpool and Manchester City FCs, Lloyds/HBOS, Kraft/Cadbury, British Airways/Iberia, Shell/BG Group, Takeda/Shire and Visa/Earthport. He has also managed and executed a large number of activist mandates, shareholder engagement campaigns and corporate governance projects on behalf of some of the most notable FTSE100 and 250 companies. In 2016 he completed his Executive MBA at the Imperial College Business School in London.

Atsushi Matsunaga

Mr. Matsunaga focuses on analyzing and advising APAC and Japanese issuers on governance risks leading up to contentious proxy campaign situations through an ESG, M&A, and governance lens.He has over 20 years of experience in the corporate governance advisory service industry of Japan. Prior to joining IHS Markit in Summer 2020, Mr. Matsunaga spent 12 years as a corporate governance consultant including board evaluations and the proxy voting simulation at IR Japan. Before that, he had provided IR consulting services at IR Japan. Mr. Matsunaga earned his bachelor's degree in Economics at Meiji Gakuin. He is a CMA (Certified Member Analyst of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan) charterholder. Mr. Matsunaga worked with some clients on proxy businesses, such as Nomura Holdings (JPN), Sanrio (JPN) , Tsukasa Corporation (JPN) and LG Chem (KOR).

Sara Abbasi

Ms. Abbasi has worked on projects involving ESG and governance risk assessments, proxy solicitation and M&A campaigns for leading banks and companies mainly in (but not limited to) the French, German and UK markets, with an aim to maximise shareholder participation.Ms. Abbasi has a strong background in journalism and communication, which she is able to use during proxy solicitation and M&A campaigns to create key communications materials for investors on behalf of clients. She has previously utilised communications strategies during contested campaigns to understand investor sentiment, convey key messages to the investor base, encourage shareholder engagement, thus increasing support for clients. Prior to joining the team, Ms. Abbasi worked in the proxy solicitation team at D.F. King Ltd, where the UK was her core market. She has worked on campaigns for Santander, Lloyds, Imperial Brands, L'Oreal, among others.Ms. Abbasi has a Master's degree in Journalism, Media and Globalisation (University of Hamburg) and a Bacherlor's degree in English and German Literature (University of Warwick).

Sandro Barbato

Mr. Barbato has over six years of experience in Investor Relations related projects, such as Roadshows, M&As, Corporate Governance & ESG Advisory, Proxy Solicitation and Special Situations for many international clients, mainly but not limited to the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Before joining IHS Markit, he spent over five years at Morrow Sodali.Mr. Barbato holds a German degree in Business Law (Diplom-Wirtschaftsjurist) and is an ESG Analyst (CESGA) certified by The European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies. In addition, he is certified in Investor Relations (ICIR) by the IR Society in London, where he is also a member (MIRSoc).

Kazuhiko Tahara

Mr. Tahara is one of our senior experts working with Japanese and Asian companies on ESG and corporate governance related projects, including general meeting preparation, ESG and governance risks linked to market sentiment, disclosure and reporting as well as materiality and shareholder engagement needsHe has over 30 years of experience in the financial service industry of Japan. Prior to joining IHS Markit in February 2020, Mr. Tahara spent 7 years as serving stewardship and ESG activity promotions including proxy voting at Daiwa Asset Management. Before that, he had several responsibilities including international primary markets, quants, corporate access and compliance at Daiwa Securities. Mr. Tahara earned his bachelor's degree in Economics at Kyoto University and an MBA majoring in Finance at the University of Chicago. He is a CFA charterholder.At IHS Markit, Mr. Tahara worked with several corporates on governance and ESG related matters, including Z Holdings (JPN) and LG Chem (KOR).
