Mini-Frac (DFIT) Analysis for Unconventional Reservoirs using IHS WellTest

Enhance testing and interpretation

Want improved reservoir analysis skills? Need to expand software applications?

This engineering and software training course provides a comprehensive methodology for the analysis of DFIT/mini-frac tests. Practical considerations and guidelines for conducting mini-frac tests to obtain reservoir flow capacity (kh) and estimate pore pressure are discussed.

Course Details

Length: One day, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Who Should Attend: Engineers and technologists performing or intending to perform DFIT/mini-frac tests on unconventional reservoirs.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of pressure transient analysis theory and basic windows navigation skills.

Tuition: This course is available to in-house groups on request. Please contact us to request a quote.

Cancellation Policy: Delivery at IHS Markit training facility - Seats are reserved upon registration, registration constitutes an agreement to pay. Refunds will not be honored for cancellations made within 7 days of your scheduled class (notice to be communicated to Energy.Training@ihsmarkit.com IHS Markit will work with you to reschedule where this is possible. IHS Markit reserves the right to cancel training up to 2 weeks prior to scheduled paid classes, or 2 days for free classes, if minimum class size not met. WebEx Delivery - Sessions are subject to cancellation up to 2 days prior to start date if minimum class size not met.

*Class hours can be used towards APEGA professional development credits.
Topics Covered
  • Estimate instantaneous shut-in pressure (ISIP)
  • Identify fracture closure using G-function, sqrt(t) and log-log plots
  • Label after-closure flow regimes
  • Conduct after closure analysis (using Nolte and Soliman solutions)
  • History match "after-closure" data using models to bound results when radial flow is not achieved
