James Stevenson

Mr. Stevenson is Senior Director and Research Lead for Coal, Metals, and Mining within IHS Markit. Previously he headed up analysis of Global Coal and before that North American coal. Mr. Stevenson's expertise includes supply-demand dynamics of the North American and international thermal and metallurgical coal markets, coal price forecasting, coal mining, and transportation costs, and coal export logistics and infrastructure. He also has extensive experience in trading, asset due diligence, and integrates his analysis into related commodities power, natural gas, dry bulk freight, and the steel and iron ore sector.Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mr. Stevenson spent five years in coal trading, most recently as Vice President, Coal Analysis at Mercuria Energy Trading, and before that as Coal Strategist at Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy. He also worked in the energy trading team, buying coal and selling power, at Eraring Energy in the Australian utility industry.Mr. Stevenson holds undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Sydney in Australia, and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Jacob Pittman

Based in Houston, TX, Jacob is responsible for the commercial management of the Chemical Advisory Service which has been designed to provide IHS Markit’s industry leading chemicals expertise for Financial and Capital Markets firms. He is also responsible for commercial management of the Minespans product offering which provides mine level cost analytics for a variety of key metals around the world.Jacob has spent the last three years in charge of the Chemicals Strategy and Planning group within IHS Markit, where he has leads a team responsible for business planning, strategy development, acquisition due diligence, new product development, and customer analysis.Prior to joining IHS Markit (previously IHS) in 2011, Jacob spent 10 years with CMAI in a variety of research and consulting roles, where he focused research on fibers (nylon, polyester), fiber intermediates (Caprolactam, Adipic Acid, PX, PET), and aromatics. Healso managed the North America Aromatics Daily Service, covering day-to-day pricing movements for benzene, toluene, xylenes and other gasoline blendstocks. Jacob also spent three years as a product manager in CMAI’s consulting group, managing a variety of projects around commercial feasibility, asset valuation, and litigation support.
