Alex Gray

​He has more than twenty-five years of experience in the maritime industry, starting with technical roles in ship owning and management companies, then later specializing in data and information provision. Mr. Gray leads the subject matter expert team for Bespoke Maritime Data Services at IHS Markit. He and his team are responsible for optimizing client use of multiple databases and their 600 available data fields. His team can provide subject matter expertise for projects from one-off requests to complex tender submissions. He supports and advises the sales team and end user clients in building data extracts for regular use in data warehouses, CRM systems, ship identification and vessel tracking (VTS) systems, and trading and security systems. Mr. Gray holds a master's degree in Strategic Marketing Management and two other degrees in Economics from London Guildhall University (now London Metropolitan), London, The Open University.

Mr. Gareth Williams

​In his more recent work, Mr. Williams has been managing and working on projects that help clients answer key strategic questions around port, company, and ship and movement data. The Bespoke Data Analysis product answers questions involving port congestion, ECA analysis, slow steaming trends, competitor analysis, market sizing and much more. In 2013, Mr. Williams commenced work to reevaluate means for calculating 'Country of Economic Benefit' and rewrite the algorithm that supports this field.Mr Williams has worked at IHS Markit for over 11 years and has great knowledge in the rich data sets across the Maritime portfolios also on analysing, combining, blending and cleaning the data. His extensive knowledge with using the data means he works very closely with clients on all manner of tasks from raw data, data aggregations, data tables and structure, new calculated fields, formulas and also full analytical solutions.Mr Williams also creates dashboards for final files; allowing users to interogate the data easier and much more efficiently through an interactive tool.
