Evolving market practices and global regulations, including MiFID II, have increased scrutiny over how asset managers pay for research. Compliance requirements for the new research payment regulations has led to the unbundling or separation of trade execution and investment research commissions, increased use of Commission Sharing Arrangements (CSA’s) and the adoption of Research Payment Accounts (RPA’s).

    A platform for asset managers to conduct a formal evaluation process, track and rate interactions, produce budgets as well as manage analytics and distribute feedback to your research providers. Asset managers may also utilize the system to conduct a qualitative assessment of the trading operations provided by the execution counterparties, producing a “360 degree” evaluation of counterparties who provide both trade execution and investment research services.

    Research Payment Manager is a solution developed specifically to cater to the MiFID II requirement for asset managers to operate and control Research Payment Accounts for research payments.
  • Commission Manager

    Our Commission Manager platform enables buy-side firms to virtually aggregate and reconcile CCA/CSA credits through a network of over 60 CSA brokers. Clients can initiate payments and manage invoices through the system.

Francis Land

He has more than 23 years of experience in the financial services industry and has focused on commission management and research procurement services for the last 15 years. Mr. Land joined IHS Markit in October 2016 and has responsibilities covering product development, strategy, sales and marketing with a particular focus on EMEA. He is a regular speaker on trends in research procurement at conferences and events. Prior to IHS Markit, he worked for Westminster Research Associates, a specialist CSA broker. Before that, he worked at The Bank of New York (now BNY Mellon) in a variety of roles within their depositary receipts and global custody divisions. Mr. Land holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics and government from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
