thinkFolio: IBOR

Monitor changes to intraday positions, transactions and strategies by leveraging a front office-focussed IBOR

As regulatory scrutiny, competitive pressure and investor demands intensify, portfolio managers and traders require access to up-to-date positions and transactions across asset classes to support their decision-making. For many firms, this is a challenge due to their use of multiple systems and different regional start-of-day/end-of-day cycles.

IHS Markit’s investment management platform, thinkFolio, addresses the requirements of portfolio managers and traders by supporting a front office-focussed Investment Book of Record (IBOR). The thinkFolio IBOR enables users to monitor the changes to their intraday positions, transactions and strategies by recording all intraday and real-time position data, which can be summarized and integrated with other internal or third-party software applications.

Key benefits:

  • Flexibility – APIs enable users to import and export data that is not native to the front office. For NAV calculations, this can include audit fees, performance fees and non-investment data, such as expenses for running the business.
  • Broad solution suite – thinkFolio is fully integrated with other IHS Markit products, including the data management solution, Enterprise Data Management (EDM), and the data warehousing solution, EDM Warehouse. By combining these solutions, firms can implement rigorous data quality procedures, disseminate IBOR data to downstream systems and improve historical reporting.
  • Multi-asset-class coverage – thinkFolio provides support for multiple asset classes, including bonds, cash, deposits, equities, ETFs, foreign exchange, funds, futures, loans, money markets, options and swaps. As a result, the thinkFolio IBOR calculations provide valuations across firms’ complete holdings (excluding exotic options).
  • Scalability – thinkFolio is available as a managed service deployed on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. Firms can scale up (or down) their use of the cloud as their needs evolve and IHS Markit’s offsite teams can introduce changes as required by the business.
