Mike Wall

Mike brings more than two decades of financial analysis, forecasting, consulting and manufacturing experience to Automotive at IHS Markit, with a primary focus on assisting automakers, suppliers and financial firms in their evaluation and understanding of the auto industry, as well as in-depth analysis of vehicle markets and technology trends. Natznet Tesfay

Her areas of specialization include analysis of political developments affecting the offshore energy sector in West Africa, particularly Nigeria; commercial developments, especially in mining, energy, and infrastructure in East Africa; and piracy risks in the Gulf of Aden and Gulf of Guinea. Ms. Tesfay leads the development of the Africa risk indicator and horizon scanning infrastructure, drawing on a range of methodologies such as geospatial analysis and scenario modelling techniques. Natznet supports business growth across the continent, advising C-level executives on market entry, stakeholder engagement and risk management, and African governments on leveraging their natural resource potential for sustained economic growth. In 2017, Natznet was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She regularly speaks in major media outlets and at high-level conferences. Previously, at Exclusive Analysis she managed the Africa intelligence team of in-country analysts and sources, as well as Exclusive Analysis's Johannesburg office. She also advised municipal governments on sustainably developing megacities and national governments on the development of free trade zones, foreign policy and the mining sector in East Africa. Ms. Tesfay's degrees include a BA in Government from Harvard University and a MSc in Urbanization and Development from the London School of Economics.

Ken Wattret

Mr. Wattret has worked as an economist in the financial markets since the early 1990s, initially for HSBC Global Markets. From 2000 onwards, he was the chief market economist for the euro area at BNP Paribas. Prior to joining IHS Markit in 2018, he was a Managing Director of Global Macro at TS Lombard, an independent research provider. A specialist in European economic and policy issues, his 'out of consensus' calls include predicting as early as 2012 that euro area deflation risk would force the European Central Bank to embark on a program of large-scale sovereign debt purchases despite strong opposition within many member states. He has taken a lead role in the presentation of key forecasts and themes to a broad spectrum of clients across Europe, the Americas and Asia, including corporates, banks and institutional and hedge fund-based portfolio managers. A well-known commentator on economic and financial issues, Ken is frequently quoted in the media and appears on various TV and radio channels. He received his honors degree in economics from the University of Sheffield, UK, and post-graduate qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Xizhou Zhou

Mr. Zhou has expertise in power and renewable market fundamentals analysis and forecasting, power market design and policy analysis, renewable energy business models, and company strategies, among other areas. He previously headed the firm's Power, Gas, Coal, and Renewables practice in Asia Pacific, managing energy research and consulting activities across regional teams based in Beijing, Delhi, Seoul, Singapore, and Tokyo. Mr. Zhou began his career at IHS Markit through one of its predecessor companies, Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), as part of its Emerging Markets and Global Power groups in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Before that, he worked as a consultant on regulatory economics for Industrial Economics, Inc. in Boston and as a research analyst at the World Resources Institute in Washington, DC. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and proficient in Spanish, Mr. Zhou holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Environmental Management, both from Yale University in the United States. He is currently an editorial board member of China Petroleum Society's official journal, Guoji Shiyou Jingji (International Petroleum Economics). He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Yale-China Association. He is based in Beijing.

Gustav Ando

Mr. Ando oversees the development of IHS Markit's global healthcare outlook analysis that focuses on market access, cost of healthcare and new treatment advances as well as coordinating its ongoing thinking on COVID-19. He heads the research and data teams that produce daily analysis, risk assessment and critical data for the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the consulting team that focuses on disease prevention, workforce and demand healthcare microsimulation models. With more than 15 years of experience in the industry, he is a regular speaker at conferences and is frequently cited by major media publications and national radio and television programs. He is the author and podium presenter of research at numerous academic conferences such as ISPOR. Mr Ando also oversees our global comparative industry group which provide critical long-term forecast perspectives across all industries around the world, as well as our specialised global constructrion group. Mr. Ando holds a postgraduate degree from the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Durham in the United Kingdom.

James Stevenson

Mr. Stevenson is Senior Director and Research Lead for Coal, Metals, and Mining within IHS Markit. Previously he headed up analysis of Global Coal and before that North American coal. Mr. Stevenson's expertise includes supply-demand dynamics of the North American and international thermal and metallurgical coal markets, coal price forecasting, coal mining, and transportation costs, and coal export logistics and infrastructure. He also has extensive experience in trading, asset due diligence, and integrates his analysis into related commodities power, natural gas, dry bulk freight, and the steel and iron ore sector.Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mr. Stevenson spent five years in coal trading, most recently as Vice President, Coal Analysis at Mercuria Energy Trading, and before that as Coal Strategist at Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy. He also worked in the energy trading team, buying coal and selling power, at Eraring Energy in the Australian utility industry.Mr. Stevenson holds undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Sydney in Australia, and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Allan Pickett

He has had roles in sales, marketing analysis and consulting. He started his career with Monsanto in 1984 and has worked at CRU International Ltd, leading their fertilizer division between 2003 and 2010. Between 2010 and 2015 he ran his own consulting business assisting expoloration and development companies assess new phosphate and potash resources. Since joining Fertecon in 2015 he has been responsible for the long-term analysis team assessing the phosphates, sulphur and potash markets, as well as consulting work including market feasibility studies and arbitration expert witness assignments.

Raoul LeBlanc

Mr. LeBlanc's passion lies in the intersection of oil and gas expertise and leading-edge data analytics. He currently leads the development and commercialization of data products that leverage knowledge to make the IHS Markit well and production database insightful for commercial decision makers. Mr. LeBlanc also plays a key role in directing research and forecasting of onshore North America and then delivering an integrated, substantive story to executives and investors. As a veteran of the industry and a former partner at PFC Energy (now IHS Markit), Mr. LeBlanc brings 25 years of experience in strategic and industry analysis. Familiar with a wide range of corporate and market issues, he has extensive experience on issues related to North American independents, upstream assets, and natural gas markets. From 1997 to 2006, Mr. LeBlanc directed Anadarko Petroleum's strategic planning effort, responsible for strategy formulation, portfolio optimization, scenario planning, and competitor analysis. He has worked and studied in Japan, the western Pacific, and Great Britain. Chris Fenske

Mr. Fenske is currently Head of Fixed Income Research for the Americas at IHS Markit, where he focuses on combining the firm's and other alternative datasets with financial market data to provide insight into the liquidity and performance of fixed income investments. Mr. Fenske's research has been cited in Barron's and he frequently presents at investment forums on the topic of assimilating alternative data into the securitized, municipal, and corporate bond investment processes.Prior to joining IHS Markit, he was a senior vice president at Halcyon Asset Management, where he was a senior trader and research analyst managing a portfolio focused on investments in non-agency RMBS, collateralized loan obligations, auto, synthetic indices, and other asset-backed securities for a $900 million distressed securitized products fund. He began his career at Credit Suisse as a fixed income research analyst on the #1 ranked mortgage-related ABS research team by Institutional Investor Magazine and later became a trader of distressed MBS and credit default swaps on ABS. Mr. Fenske holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Binghamton University.

Daejin Lee

Mr. Lee is a principal consultant and lead shipping analyst for commodities analytics and freight forecasting service in IHS Markit Singapore. He has participated in several maritime consulting projects such as AIS analytics for commodities, freight and asset price forecast modeling, shipbuilding market analysis, and global ports traffic analysis. He played major role to build both IHS Markit's (a) 'Freight Rate Forecast (FRF)', data driven freight forecasting models for dry bulk market, and (b) 'Bulkers at Sea' module of Commodities at Sea, global commodity and freight analytics tool based on historical regional fleet and AIS information including position, cargo, ballast/laden ratio, anchored/moored status, speed, employment etc. He is a regular speaker about shipping and commodities markets at global events and seminars, including SGX iron ore forum in Singapore, Djakarta Mining Club coal conference in Jakarta, and Baltic Exchange Freight Forum in Copenhagen and Singapore, IHS Markit maritime market seminar in Geneva, Tokyo, and Beijing, and Korean Congress' maritime forum in Seoul. Before joining IHS Markit, Daejin spent several years at Hanjin Shipping as a FFA trader and shipping analyst where he gave regular presentations to key trading houses and several energy companies about freight and commodity markets. He was also responsible for freight market risk management by providing timely market information, trading freight derivatives and giving expert guidance on long-term and short-term fleet chartering and acquiring or selling ships. Since he started his career at dry bulk chartering team in 2008, he has valuable experience in shipping and commodities market which provided him with a deeper understanding of what internal and external audiences or clients really need in their daily business. Daejin studied English Literature both in Seoul (KU) and London (RHUL) and graduated as a Bachelor of Arts from Korea University.

Carlo Barrasa

Carlo Barrasa is an Executive Director of IHS Markit's North American Light Olefins service, which provides clients valuable insights into the regional market dynamics of cracker feedstocks, ethylene and propylene. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Carlo was a Senior Strategy Advisor at Anadarko Petroleum where he was responsible for guiding company's market strategy for its Natural Gas Liquids business. After beginning his career in various downstream and chemical roles with ExxonMobil, Carlo previously held senior consulting and research positions at IHS Markit legacy companies PFC Energy and CMAI. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a master's in business administration, both from the University of Texas at Austin.

Jim Burkhard

Mr. Burkhard is vice president and head of crude oil market and energy and mobility research. He is responsible for the development and coordination of IHS Markit insights and messages for global and regional oil markets and scenarios. His expertise covers geopolitics, industry dynamics, and global oil demand and supply trends. He has more than 20 years of experience in energy markets. He also leads research into how changes in the automotive ecosystem are impacting the future of the energy and automotive industries. He led the ground-breaking IHS Markit study, Reinventing the Wheel (RTW): The future of cars, oil, chemicals, and electric power. RTW has been cited by numerous press outlets around the world including the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, CNBC, Bloomberg, and media outlets in China, Europe, and India.Mr. Burkhard has led the development of each generation of IHS Markit scenarios that bring together the entirety of IHS Markit energy research to form an integrated global outlook for the future of energy. The 2006 scenarios pointed to a major debt-induced global crisis two years before the 2008 recession; and in 2011, identified the roadmap to $50 oil by 2014/15. Also, in early 2020, his team was the first to identify the scale of production cuts that would materialize in the US and OPEC+ members in the second quarter of the year.Mr. Burkhard has testified before the US Congress on energy issues and is frequently sought for comment by global media. He has participated in several US National Petroleum Council (NPC) studies that provide policy recommendations to the US Secretary of Energy on oil and gas issues. Prior to joining Cambridge Energy Research Associates before its acquisition by IHS Markit, Mr. Burkhard was a member of the US Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa, where he directed infrastructure projects to improve water availability and credit facilities. He holds a BA from Hamline University and an MS from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
