Data Dictionary

Empowering business users through greater visibility of their data assets

Despite broad recognition today that data is a strategic asset, many business users are not taking full advantage of their organizations’ data estates because they do not have a complete picture of the data that is available to them and the data governance framework that is in place.

The Data Dictionary addresses this situation by providing a web-based interface that allows users to see what data is available within their organization. The portal includes important data governance metadata, including how the data is defined, where it has come from, who owns it and who has altered it.

The Data Dictionary is a standalone software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, which complements our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform. It uses metadata that already exists in EDM, ensuring a quick deployment for existing clients. A business glossary mapping feature will support the onboarding of data sources from systems outside EDM, creating a view of the data estate across the organization. Out-of-the-box, customizable fields and definitions will also help expedite time to market.

Jarrod Martin

As CTO, Mr. Martin oversees the technology strategy and direction of EDM. He brings more than 22 years of experience in software development. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mr. Martin worked at Digiterre, where he oversaw the transformation of the core platform from an on-premise, single-tenant product to a cloud-first, multi-tenant platform. He started as a lead developer, became CTO and later was managing director. Mr. Martin holds a bachelor's degree in information management from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

As a data management and software specialist, James has had multiple responsibilities within EDM during his five-year tenure at S&P Global Market Intelligence, including sales and business development, new industry discovery and product strategy. He plays a central role in growing the business and applying EDM's capabilities to multi-industry challenges.James holds a degree in International Business from Loughborough University, UK.

Jamie Penniman

He leads the go-to-market strategy for the Software Solutions business, whose industry-leading products, data services and investment management capabilities are used by 1,800+ institutional market participants to achieve operational alpha.During his ten-year tenure at the firm, Jamie has focused on helping clients solve complex business challenges while reducing cost and improving operational efficiency. Most recently he was Global Head of the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) business.Prior to joining Markit, now S&P Global Market Intelligence, in 2010, Jamie was responsible for growing sales at Evare, LLC. He has also held sales and business development roles at Charles River Development and Integrity Interactive.Jamie holds a degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
