Research Evaluations and Payments

  • Evaluation

    The new Global Best Practice means that asset managers must have properly defined and well-managed processes for tracking, evaluating, budgeting and paying for research and associated services. Evaluation enables asset managers to conduct a formal research evaluation process, pre-filter and track service interactions, manage rate cards, produce budgets, and distribute feedback reports direct to research providers. Trading and other associated services can also be evaluated, providing a complete “360 degree” profile of all services received from counterparties.

  • Commission Manager

    Commission Manager complements Evaluation providing automated reconciliations and “virtual” CSA credit aggregation through a network of over 60 CSA brokers. Clients can monitor all CSA balances initiate payments and approve invoices through this web-based system.

Experts

Francis Land

He has more than 23 years of experience in the financial services industry and has focused on commission management and research procurement services for the last 15 years. Mr. Land joined IHS Markit in October 2016 and has responsibilities covering product development, strategy, sales and marketing with a particular focus on EMEA. He is a regular speaker on trends in research procurement at conferences and events. Prior to IHS Markit, he worked for Westminster Research Associates, a specialist CSA broker. Before that, he worked at The Bank of New York (now BNY Mellon) in a variety of roles within their depositary receipts and global custody divisions. Mr. Land holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics and government from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.

Chedi Vitta

Mr. Vitta manages a product suite sell-side institutions use to coordinate all aspects of a corporate access engagement - from deal/non-deal roadshows to conferences. The platform provides a single collaborative channel for corporates, industry experts and investment managers to interact. Mr. Vitta has over 15 years of experience in financial services and joined IHS Markit in September 2018. Before IHS Markit he worked in PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) financial services advisory practice. Prior to that he worked for Dealogic's equity capital markets group partnering with syndicate desks globally to execute initial public offerings, secondary offerings and convertible debt offerings. Mr. Vitta holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science and a Master of Science in financial engineering both from the George Washington University.

McEvans Francois

Mr. Francois is the lead product strategy and marketing executive for our Brokerage, Research, Sales and Trading Program. Mr. Francois has over 13 years of experience in financial services. He drives collaboration and coordination across product, technology, development, product consultants and client success. The products within his remit include BD Data, the leading cross asset data and ownership set for both the buyside and sellside banks, an event management suite of solutions that serve broker dealers in corporate access & deal related events, and research evaluation and payment tools.Prior to the merger of Ipreo and IHS Markit, Mr. Francois worked in various leadership roles across Research, Sales & Trading. Those roles focused on banking client workflows through Account Management, Team Management, Product Specialist and Strategy roles. He holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College, CUNY.
