Rahul Kapoor

He leads an integrated commodity analytics product management, data science and research team. As a business head, he is responsible for driving new product growth for our analytics products Commodities at Sea and Freight Analytics. A subject matter expert in the maritime industry and financial markets, Mr. Kapoor is a thought leader with proven credentials in market analysis forecasting, shipping economics and commodity market developments. He is a regular speaker at major conferences and client events globally, and is frequently interviewed by both print and visual media. Most recently, he was at Bloomberg Intelligence and earlier headed Drewry Financial Research Services Ltd. He has also worked as senior equities analyst at RS Platou Markets and Nomura. Mr. Kapoor holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering from BITS, Pilani and a Postgraduate in Management from IMI, New Delhi, India.

Fotios Katsoulas

He focuses on the seaborne trade of crude oil and its impacts on the shipping cycles and investors' decisions, drawing from his experience in commercial shipping sectors such as crude oil and oil product tankers, LNG and LPG carriers, MODU and OSV. Previously, Mr. Katsoulas gained experience in using the latest technology to provide better insights more quickly and more frequently to the shipping industry and to associated finance and insurance providers. As head of research for Affinity Shipping LLP and as shipping analyst for Maritime Strategies International Ltd., he managed big shipping data, developed shipping cycle econometric models, and assisted with advisory projects and valuations for major international shipping banks and financial providers. Mr. Katsoulas regularly attends international shipping industry conferences and has professional experience in operational research and corporate presentations. He holds a Master of Science in shipping, trade and finance from Cass Business School, City University London, United Kingdom.

Daejin Lee

Mr. Lee is a lead shipping analyst and associate director for commodities analytics and freight forecasting service in IHS Markit Singapore. He is one of top ranked experts in 'Experts by IHS Markit' and his executive interview (3min) on Suez Canal Blockage was featured in BBC Worldnews Live on 29th March 2021.He has participated in several maritime consulting projects with track record of leading and completing multi-million dollar consulting project to forecast freight rates and asset prices with data driven analytics. He played a major role as a main developer and led the project to build IHS Markit's (a) 'Freight Rate Forecast (FRF)', data driven freight forecasting models for dry bulk market, and (b) 'Bulkers at Sea' of Commodities at Sea, global commodity and freight analytics tool and (c) 'Freight Signal Monitor' covering regional freight S/D signals including position, cargo, status, speed, employment, congestion etc. He is a regular speaker about shipping and commodities markets at global events and seminars, including SGX iron ore forum in Singapore, Djakarta Mining Club coal conference in Jakarta, and Baltic Exchange Freight Forum in Copenhagen and Singapore, and Korean Congress' maritime forum in Seoul. One of his renowned lectures at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers webinar on 'Shipping Market Cycles and Forecasting' with nearly 1,000 registered for the sessions in Europe and Asia is currently available in Baltic Exchange Website. Before joining IHS Markit, Daejin started his career at dry bulk chartering team and spent several years at Hanjin Shipping as a FFA trader and shipping analyst where he gave regular presentations to key trading houses and several energy companies about freight and commodity markets. He was also responsible for freight market risk management by providing timely market information, trading freight derivatives and giving expert guidance on long-term and short-term fleet chartering and acquiring or selling ships. Pranay Shukla

Mr. Shukla, Associate Director with the Maritime & Trade team at IHS Markit, focuses on dry bulk commodities and freight. His responsibilities include coordination of global bulk commodities market analysis deliverables such as building a global as well as regional supply and demand balance, short to medium-term forecasts, cost projections, and asset ownership league tables. He also assists with scenario analysis and provides support for Multiclient Studies.Before joining IHS Markit, Mr. Shukla worked for Mercuria Energy Trading as a senior analyst covering dry bulk commodities and freight, and for Drewry Shipping Consultants, where he analyzed global LNG and LPG markets. Mr. Shukla is a Postgraduate in Management and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Singapore branch.

Peter Tirschwell

Mr. Tirschwell is responsible for all content appearing on, The Journal of Commerce magazine and JOC Events, as well as Safety at Sea and Ports & Harbors magazines. Previously, he was executive vice president and chief content officer at JOC Group, as well as a reporter, West Coast Bureau chief, editor in chief and publisher of The Journal of Commerce. Mr. Tirschwell is the founder and chairman of the annual TPM conference in Long Beach, California, one of the world's largest shipping events, and led the development of the JOC Port Productivity data, the first global database of container port and marine terminal performance. He is a columnist for The Journal of Commerce and covering a range of international logistics topics. He is a sought after speaker for industry events and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and The New York Times. He received a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University, Gabelli School of Business in New York and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maine, US.

Byron McKinney

His focus at IHS Markit is on the automation and simplification of the compliance and workflow process within trade finance. He has over 15 years of experience in trade finance and commodity trading most recently from Accuity, where he led the business team in designing and delivering dual-use goods identification and vessel monitoring for the banking and cargo markets. Previously, he worked at Thomson Reuters in the energy and shipping business with time spent on developing cargo tracking models and price forecasting applications for gas and power. He holds a degree in History and Iranian Studies.

Jakub M. Kwiatkowski

Dr. Kwiatkowski is a Senior Economist at GTAS Forecasting team, where he contributes to quarterly forecasts of international trade. He specializes in international trade, blue growth and gravity models.He graduated from University of Gdańsk (Ph.D. in economics and finance) and Kiel Institute for the World Economy (Advanced Studies Programe).Dr. Kwiatkowski work experience includes both corporate and academic background. Recently, he also works as a researcher at the Economic Faculty at University of Gdańsk.Dr. Kwiatkowski participated in several research projects founded by the Polish National Science Centre as well as consulting and advisory projects for various government agencies and local authorities. His works concerning international trade, technological progress and corporate finance were published in world leading journals, such as "Marine Policy".

Katarzyna Skrzypek

Mrs Skrzypek is a senior economist in the Maritime & Trade division, where she contributes to developing bilateral trade forecasts for the GTA Forecasting database and performs international trade analysis. Mrs Skrzypek is an author for part of the GTA Forecasting quarterly strategic report called 'Trends in the World Economy and Trade', as well as other trade market headline analysis. Mrs Skrzypek also works on expanding the array of GTA Forecasting products on the IHS Markit Connect platform, planning meritorical and the visual side of the content and takes part in preparing marketing campaigns for these products. She has also cooperated with other IHS Markit services, such as the Banking Risk Service and Pricing and Purchasing (developing forecast models for price indices). Before joining Maritime & Trade, Mrs Skrzypek worked as a senior information specialist in information management, where she was dealing with historical macroeconomic and financial data for the Middle East and Africa and CIS regions. Mrs Skrzypek has an MA degree in transport and logistics, which she obtained from the University of Gdansk, Faculty of Economics.

Agnieszka Maciejewska

Agnieszka's team develops trade data visualizations on the IHS Markit Connect platform and creates articles on trade policy analysis and factors impacting bilateral exchange. Agnieszka is also responsible for delivering parts of the quarterly Trends in the World Economy and Trade report. Agnieszka oversees GTA Forecasting product development as its product manager. Agnieszka is responsible for creating paths of development for the GTA Forecasting product and for external contact with clients. Agnieszka performs multiple presentations, demos, trainings and webinars for Maritime and Trade clients. Agnieszka is also responsible for internal cooperation between GTA Forecasting and products from other divisions of IHS Markit. Before joining Maritime and Trade, Agnieszka worked in the information management team, dealing with historical macroeconomic and financial data. Agnieszka has an MA degree in international trade from University of Gdansk, Faculty of Economics where she also completed doctoral studies.
