Executive Director – Logic and Standards, Regulatory and Compliance Group, IHS MarkitMr. Nelson Suit is an executive director responsible for leading the Logic and Standards team within the Regulatory and Compliance Group at IHS Markit.
His team develops and maintains the logic that runs the firm's tax and regulatory compliance solutions. With a focus on international tax law, Mr. Suit also consults with clients on a broad range of regulatory and tax issues that arise in global business operations, including due diligence requirements for client onboarding, cross-border withholding taxes, tax reporting under FATCA and CRS, and tax and regulatory issues affecting financial derivatives and other financial products. Before joining IHS Markit, Mr. Suit was Of Counsel to the international tax law firm of Burt, Staples & Maner, LLP. Prior to that, he was director of Financial Products and Fund Tax at Wellington Management Company LLP, an investment manager based in Boston. At Wellington, Mr. Suit oversaw tax review for investments made by the firm and provided key tax input on the tax structure for the launch of new sponsored products. Previously, he was a consultant and attorney at several of the largest global tax accounting and law firms, including PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Boston, White & Case in New York and Singapore and Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong. Mr. Suit has contributed to articles in tax journals and speaks at various forums on international tax subjects, including cross-border tax issues faced by investment partnerships, FATCA, section 871(m) and section 305(c). Mr. Suit earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale University and a JD from Harvard Law School, both in the US.
