Dr. Su, Consulting Principal, IHS Markit, contributes North America power research and consulting for IHS Markit. He participates in bespoke consulting projects for regional power market analytics and produces research insights investigating how climate change can alter wholesale price profiles.
Dr. Su joined IHS Markit in 2020 after completing his PhD in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His PhD work primarily focuses on quantifying uncertainties and risks associated with weather/climatic extremes in electricity systems. He also has experience designing hedging strategies, both physical and financial, to mitigate extreme climatic event risks.
Being an interdisciplinary researcher, Dr. Su applied his research and modelling skills to fields other than power systems. Including modelling SARS-Covid-2's transmission related ICU capacity shortage, flood events led mortgage default.
In addition to his doctoral degree, Dr Su holds a BS from Durham University, and MS degrees from both University College London (UCL) and University of North Caroline at Chapel
