Jürgen Sorgenfrei, Ph.D.
Director – Maritime & Trade, IHS MarkitDr. Jürgen Sorgenfrei is a director of the Maritime & Trade group at IHS Markit.
He has over 25 years of experience in global trade, maritime transportation, port and hinterland operations, infrastructure planning and development, transportation marketing and regional economics. Prior to IHS, he served as chairman of sales and marketing for the Port of Hamburg Marketing, a public-private partnership, headquartered in Hamburg, with 13 offices in Europe, Asia and the US. He also worked as the marketing and business development director at the container, stevedoring and logistics company, HHLA. Earlier in his career, he spent ten years as a consultant for HPC Port Consulting. Dr. Sorgenfei received his master’s degree in Economics from Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel and his doctorate in Transport Economics from the University of Hamburg, Germany.
