Ms. Ona Odili is a London-based Legal Analyst and the Sub-Saharan lead for the Petroleum Economics and Policy Solutions (PEPS) team at IHS Markit.
​Ms. Odili's work focuses on providing legal insight and specialist advisory services to help clients understand the interconnected, dynamic forces that shape the upstream energy market. She provides research and analysis covering a full spectrum of commercial, economic and legal issues that are relevant to national oil companies, international oil companies, regulatory authorities and governments. Ms. Odili has contributed to a number of client-specific research projects and presentations providing insight on legal and fiscal developments and trends in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. She published an IHS Energy perspective on upstream attractiveness of Sub-Saharan African countries about how an upstream investor that is screening for both emerging opportunities and risks in the region can view relative country attractiveness today. Prior to joining IHS Markit, she had attained over five years of experience in the energy sector as a legal, regulatory and compliance risk officer. In that time, she gained an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of the energy sector. Ms. Ona Odili is a member of the Associate Institute of Petroleum Negotiators and holds a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics (LSE), UK and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law, Birmingham, UK.​
