Mr. Klaessig specializes in understanding how environmental regulation, technology, and innovation drive change in North American electric power markets. In addition to cochairing the IHS Markit Energy Innovation Pioneers program, Mr. Klaessig has been instrumental in several IHS Markit studies, including "Hydrogen in the Golden State." He has authored numerous reports on research into air quality regulations and retrofit/retirement decisions on coal-fired generation, as well as trends in technologies like cogeneration. Prior to joining IHS Markit, Mr. Klaessig consulted for Abt Associates, primarily on US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contracts. Supporting the EPA, Mr. Klaessig focused on modeling the economic impact of proposed rulemakings and identifying noncompliance with environmental regulations.
