Zhi Xin Chong

Associate Director, Gas, Power, and Energy Futures, IHS Markit

Zhi Xin Chong, associate director, IHS Markit, leads the Gas, Power, and Energy Futures team covering Southeast Asia.
Based in Singapore, Mr. Chong focuses on understanding supply, demand, and price outlooks for commodity markets and the impact of government policies. A recognized LNG expert, he has spoken at numerous conferences, and his views are routinely sought by major media publications. He has been invited by the US Department of State to open an Association of Southeast Asian Nations conference held jointly with the Indonesian Ministry of Energy in Jakarta. He has also appeared as the lead speaker in a CNBC documentary on Sustainable Energy using LNG. Prior joining IHS Markit, Mr. Chong was the principal analyst at Wood Mackenzie for Asia Pacific LNG and South East Asia Gas and Power. He has also worked as a policy and planning analyst at the Energy Market Authority of Singapore, where he was involved in the planning of the electricity and gas sector, Singapore LNG terminal development, and various projects on Jurong Island. Mr. Chong holds a Bachelor of Business Management (cum laude) from the Singapore Management University.
