Principal Research Analyst, Agri-Business IntelligenceAdriel Cheng is Principal analyst responsible for the fundamental analysis of the global food grains markets at IHS Markit.
Prior to joining the company in 2019, Mr. Cheng spent three years as a trading analyst at Invenio Asset Management in New York, a subsidiary of Olam International, with assets under management exceeding $300 million. His main responsibilities included the origination of trade strategies based on fundamental data in the oilseeds and vegetable oils markets. Before moving to the US, he conducted market research in key agricultural commodities at OCBC Bank, a regional bank headquartered in Singapore with agricultural commodity exposures in excess of $5 billion. He began his career as an associate in the strategic planning team at RGE Pte. Ltd., a resource-based industrial group where he specialized in investment analysis in the mid-stream and downstream palm oil sector in Southeast Asia and China and was part of a team that oversaw deployment in excess of $200 million in investments into new growth projects. Mr. Cheng received his bachelor's degree in economics from Singapore Management University and his graduate diploma in agricultural economics from the University of Western Australia.
