Emre Caliskan is a senior research analyst covering Turkey’s internal and external affairs at IHS Markit.

Mr. Caliskan specializes in analyzing developments relevant to political and business risks, especially in Turkey and the Middle East. Prior to joining IHS Markit, he worked as an independent consultant providing in-depth analysis on Turkey and on Islamic movements in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. Mr. Caliskan is the co-author of a book entitled The 'New Turkey' and its Discontents (2016) by Hurst Publishers and Oxford University Press. He has worked for the BBC Turkish service, Cumhuriyet, Newsweek Turkey, and the Turkish public broadcaster Türkiye Radyo Televizyon (TRT), as a foreign correspondent based in Ankara, Damascus, Beijing, and London. He is a DPhil Candidate in International Relations, University of Oxford, earned his MA in Middle East and Mediterranean Studies from King's College London, and has a BA in Sociology, Middle East Technical University, Turkey.
