Senior Analyst – Asia Pacific, Country Risk & FCM, IHS Markit
Mr. Asad Ali, a senior analyst for Country Risk at IHS Markit,
covers political, economic, regulatory and security risks in the
Asia Pacific Region.
Mr. Ali advises on regulatory and security environments in
Asia Pacific with particular emphasis on Pakistan, Bangladesh,
Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. His work involves indicator-based risk
forecasting, authoring reactionary, in-depth, and bespoke client
reports, and maintaining our qualitative risk ratings. Mr. Ali has
recently worked on projects assessing the regional and domestic
impact of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and mapping
political influence in Pakistan and Bangladesh. His media work
includes appearances on Al Jazeera and France 24, as well as
interviews in the New York Times, Bloomberg and Deutsche Welle. Mr.
Ali received a Master of Arts in International Relations from the
University of Warwick, Coventry, U.K., and a LLB from City
University London, London, U.K. He speaks Urdu and Punjabi.
