Ms. Alan is energy markets editor as part of the Coal, Metals and Mining division at IHS Markit. She covers the Asian seaborne thermal coal market with a focus on Southeast Asia. She reflects movements in pricing in the spot market and helps industry players make decisions through commercially valuable analysis featured in a leading global coal intelligence publication, the McCloskey Coal Report. She actively organizes IHS Markit coal conferences and marketing showcases in the region, and she has moderated panel discussions and presented on the market at external industry events.
Prior to joining IHS Markit, Ms. Alan was a journalist for regional broadcaster Channel NewsAsia, where her attention was centered on sociopolitical and economic issues affecting the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Asia at large. Sh is professionally fluent in English, Bahasa Indonesia, and Malay. In 2009, she translated literary works on democracy in Indonesia under the guidance of political scientist Dr. Nasir Tamara. Ms. Alan holds a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications with a concentration in liberal studies from Oklahoma City University, United States.
