Meda Al Rowas
Associate Director – Global Analysis, Country Risk, IHS MarkitDr. Meda Al Rowas is an associate director with Country Risk's Global Analysis & Audit team at IHS Markit.
She progressed to the role of associate director after working as a senior analyst and the head of the Middle East and North Africa desk. In this role, Dr. Al Rowas oversaw analysis and forecasts covering the Gulf States, Iran, Yemen and Iraq. She worked closely with the team's regional human source and external contributor network. This role also often required influence mapping, analyzing geospatial data, developing risk visualizations and using social media intelligence. Her client projects included developing scenarios for the conflict in Yemen, assessing naval risks in the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, tracking the Islamic State's changing tactics, capability and threat to assets and personnel in Iraq, Syria and the GCC, as well as the militant group's expansion prospects and associated regional implications. She holds a Ph.D. and an MRes in Economics and Management from the University of Sheffield, UK. Her doctoral thesis included a regional competitiveness model to benchmark oil rich developing economies, focused on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
