The steam coal supply side is adjusting to weak market conditions
Global Steam Coal Supply: Adjusting well to weak market conditions?
After global steam coal demand looks to have fallen by over 80 MMt in 2020, suppliers have been forced to adapt to a very different demand scenario than they'd expected at the start of the year. This has been achieved to varying degrees, with some appearing ready for the post-COVID recovery and others still struggling to adjust to today's COVID-driven demand weakness.
In this webinar, IHS Markit coal experts discuss how Atlantic Ocean-based suppliers have had no choice but to work with the disappearance of European demand, along with the growing uncertainty for Pacific Ocean-based suppliers which do not always appear to be responding to market pressures.
The webinar presenters will comment on the scale of market recovery to be expected post-COVID and the readiness of the supply side to respond to it, finishing by highlighting the implications for price inherent in the trends evolving today.
The event will be a live on-line event. Once registered, you will receive the instructions needed to attend.
