Resolving the Complex Challenges of Ocean Governance and Security for Secure and Sustainable Oceans in the Southeast Asian Region
The University of Tokyo, MRI and IHS Jane's are hosting an international conference on Ocean Security and Governance in the Southeast Asian Region in Singapore on August 29, 2016.
Securing the sea lines of communication, ensuring the maritime safety, keeping the stable and peaceful use of oceans as well as the conservation of marine resources are urgent issues for Japan and Southeast Asian countries.
In this seminar, experts from Southeast Asian countries and Japan will discuss the options and challenges to achieve secure and sustainable oceans in the Southeast Asian region, including the expected international cooperation among the countries such as information sharing and capacity building. The discussions will cover the issues of maritime security, international law and other emerging issues related to ocean governance and security.
