35th Annual World Methanol Conference

alt text

IHS Markit presents the 35th Annual World Methanol Conference in Berlin, Germany on September 30, 2017.

Unprecedented Price Volatility: Will It Continue?

Methanol prices have seen dramatic movements in the last 12 months, driven by supply restrictions and robust demand from MTO. Supply, particularly from North America and Iran, remains a wildcard with uncertainties surrounding startup dates.

Methanol trade flows are also changing with new supply coming onstream and opportunistic shipments fuelled by regional price differentials and low freight rates.

The 35th Annual World Methanol Conference and Workshop will be held in Berlin, Germany. The conference will take place over a full day on Saturday, September 30, preceded by a full-day training workshop "Introduction to Methanol" on Friday, September 29. It will once again present the trusted insight and analysis that you have come to rely on, bringing together over 100 colleagues from around the globe for networking and information sharing.

This year’s conference will address these key issues surrounding the methanol market, including:

  • Factors driving the price volatility in the market
  • Latest update on methanol projects in North America and Iran
  • Methanol global operating rates as a result of a growth in MTO and effect of OPEC on methanol prices and demand into energy applications
  • Methanol development in Iran and possible impact of change in the U.S. government
  • Potential game changers including methanol as a marine fuel

Training Workshop: In conjunction with the World Methanol Conference, IHS Markit is offering a full-day workshop "Introduction to Methanol" on September 30, 2017. Taught by our team of methanol experts, this full-day workshop provides a broad understanding of all major aspects of the global methanol market.
