6th Annual Asia Chemical Conference (incorporating the Acrylonitrile, Derivatives & Fibres Conference)
Is An Acrylonitrile Shortage Possible? Prospects and Location of New Capacity
The acrylonitrile market is tightening fast due to the lack of new capacity coupled with strong demand growth from all derivatives except acrylic fibre. Operating rates of acrylonitrile plants are already high, and new capacity build is uncertain. Any production glitches could tip the market into shortage moving forwards.
Total acrylonitrile demand is forecast to grow about 4%/year to over 7 million by 2022. This means new capacity is needed immediately and at a rate of almost one world-scale plant every year.
The key question is who will invest? Where is new acrylonitrile capacity expected to be built? What technology will be used? What will the demand for each derivative look like?
These critical questions will be explored by IHS Markit and industry experts at the Acrylonitrile, Derivatives & Fibres breakout session at the 6th Annual Asia Chemical Conference.
Topics to be covered include:
- Overview of energy and acrylonitrile feedstocks
- The global market outlook for acrylonitrile
- Demand prospects for: Fibres - acrylic, carbon, polyester, and nylon
- NB Copolymers
- Other acrylonitrile uses
The 6th Asia Chemical Conference incorporating the Acrylonitrile, Derivatives & Fibres Conference is the only global event dedicated to participants of the acrylonitrile and related industries.
More than 200 delegates from 115 companies in 17 countries gathered in Singapore to get information and updates from industry and IHS Markit experts, as well as network and forge relationships with industry colleagues.
Join us this year on Nov 1-2 for a unique networking opportunity over a day and a half of solid content with three parallel breakout sessions: Olefins & Derivatives; Aromatics & Derivatives; Acrylonitrile, Derivatives & Fibres.
