What happens when $1 billion is spent within the upstream E&P sector in Africa?

With exploration budgets constrained and the number of active explorers in decline, supply slipping while demand is climbing - Africa offers hope.

Africa still holds the potential for giant or even supergiant discoveries within frontier basins. These fields like those recently discovered in South Africa, Cote D'Ivoire and Namibia hold the potential to move the needle for the IOC's that make the discoveries but also hold the potential to transform the host country.

Countries that play host to frontier basins tend to present favourable fiscal terms shifting that risk reward balance towards rewards. These countries also tend to have relatively limited hydrocarbon industries which stand to benefit significantly from discoveries.

The potential benefits of home-grown production can be significant in terms of job creation and overall GDP.

Join us as we take a look at what could be if a discovery is developed, what shifts the risk reward balance from risk to reward for an IOC and ultimately what are the benefits to Africa if invested in, rather than if investment is made elsewhere and finished product is then imported.
