Upstream Energy Breakfast Briefing 2019
The Future of Malaysian E&P
Like many countries in Southeast Asia, Malaysia is going through an important upstream transition where the next phase of volumes will be more challenging to monetize. For Malaysia, the problem is potentially more acute, given the next set of fields pending FID are acid and sour in nature from a CO2 and H2S perspective. Further complicating matters is the evolving above-ground environment in Sarawak and Sabah, which is dampening investment interest. Given the importance of sanctioning the next phase of projects, the objective of this session is to address the following key questions:
- What is the outlook for Malaysia and its key basins from a production, cost and value perspective?
- How is the above-ground environment evolving and what implications does this have for upstream investment?
- How will the competitive landscape shape-up over the coming years?
