Costs and Technology Indexes

IHS Markit Indexes

IHS Markit Indexes for Costs and Technology are a clearing house for information and data, with each index a proprietary metric developed using the data and tools collected and managed by IHS Markit, published on a consistent and frequent basis as a service to our customers.

The five indices include:

UCCI

Upstream Capital Costs Index (UCCI)
The UCCI tracks the costs of equipment, facilities, materials and personnel (both skilled and unskilled) used in the construction of a geographically diversified portfolio of 28 onshore, offshore, pipeline and LNG projects. It is similar to the consumer price index (CPI) in that it provides a clear, transparent benchmark tool for tracking and forecasting a complex and dynamic environment. The UCCI is a work product of the Upstream Capital Costs Service.

UOCI

Upstream Operating Costs Index (UOCI)
The UOCI measures cost changes in the oil and gas field operations arena. It is similar to the consumer price index (CPI) in that it provides a clear, transparent benchmark tool for tracking and forecasting a complex and dynamic environment. The UOCI is a work product of the Upstream Operating Costs Service.

DCCI

Downstream Capital Costs Index (DCCI)
The DCCI tracks the costs of equipment, facilities, materials and personnel (both skilled and unskilled) used in the construction of a geographically diversified portfolio of 40 refining and petrochemical construction projects. It is similar to the consumer price index (CPI) in that it provides a clear, transparent benchmark tool for tracking and forecasting a complex and dynamic environment. The DCCI is a work product of the IHS Markit Downstream Capital Costs Service.

NACI

North American Cost Index (NACI)

The NACII is designed to help clients effectively monitor, forecast and manage major capital investment costs for North American conventional and nonconventional well costs, and deepwater Gulf of Mexico (GOM) field development. IHS Markit tracks the performance of onshore markets in drilling, completions, facilities and operating costs. Offshore markets include rigs overview, vessels, subsea and equipment and operating costs. The service helps participants better anticipate the costs associated with producing oil and natural gas in North America through 2040.

UII

Upstream Innovation Index (UII)
The UII tracks the cost impact of efficiency and design changes on a portfolio of pre-production projects. It accounts for structural cost evolution when making cost escalation assumptions, performs gap analysis against the benchmark for your project or project portfolio, and sets an achievement target that illustrates best practices and optimum project potential.
