Carlos Cardenas manages the IHS Markit Country Risk Americas team, and is responsible for the generation of commercially relevant political and violent risks forecasts for a variety of sectors in Latin America, including energy, mining and re-insurance. Carlos specializes in assessing the business environment for several countries in Latin America, covering key risks affecting current or potential investors. These include expropriation, non-payment, contract frustration, civil unrest, business disruption, security and operational risks. Carlos has an MA in International Political Economy from the University of Birmingham, and LLM in Petroleum Law and Policy from the University of Dundee and BA in International Studies from Universidad Central de Venezuela.
